This post is all about natural remedies for MRSA.
If you or someone you know is battling MRSA, first of all – I’m so sorry. My experience with MRSA included some of worst pain I’ve ever experienced. Not only is it painful, it’s also a scary thing to get!
After battling it myself, I’ve found some natural remedies that helped me treat minor cases of MRSA and prevent new ones. I hope these tips help you too!
As a disclaimer, I’m not a licensed medical professional. Of course, visit your doctor if you are experiencing MRSA – especially if it’s severe!
1. Raw Manuka Honey
The first natural remedy I found helpful is Raw Manuka Honey.
Raw Manuka Honey comes from the Tee Tree Plant. Because of this, it has natural antimicrobial qualities.

That being said, when placed on an active MRSA infection, it may help to reduce the size and duration of the infection.
Even though Raw Manuka Honey can be taken orally, I’ve experienced the best results when it is applied topically as a part of wound care.
Raw Manuka Honey, made from the tea tree plant has antibacterial properties and can be helpful as a topically natural remedy against MRSA infections.
You’ll want to make sure it really is Raw Manuka honey like this one from Manuka Honey in New Zealand. Keep in mind that the higher the MGO rating, the higher its antimicrobial properties it has. For example, the honey linked above from Manukora has 850+ MGO which would be more potent than more (and is also why it is more expensive).
2. Oil of Oregano
Believe it or not, oil of oregano has more uses than just making Italian food taste incredible. It is also extremely antibacterial as well. That’s why it’s another one of the best natural remedies for MRSA I’ve found.

While you might see this as an essential oil in aromatherapy, the best way I’ve found to use it to fight MRSA is in capsule form.
Oil of Oregano is potent and antibacterial natural supplement. While it is also sold in essential oil form, capsules can offer excellent immunity support against staph infections.
Keep in mind, because of how powerful this supplement is, it is not recommended to take for more than two weeks at a time.
3. Topical Probiotic Spray
This is maybe the biggest long-term tip that has kept my MRSA at bay and it has to do with why we get MRSA in the first place.
When I first got MRSA I would use a nurse-grade antibacterial wash all over my skin to keep from getting further infections. This would keep me MRSA free, but only temporarily. If I didn’t use the wash often enough, I would get recurring infections. This was so frustrating! It also made me feel tethered to my bottle of super-intense cleanser. I was always afraid if I didn’t have it on a trip with me that I’d get another infection. That’s no way to live!
Enter Skin probiotics
In a world that LOVES anything antibacterial, we unknowingly strip our skin of its natural barrier and the good bacteria that’s meant to live there. One day, I realized this was my issue and why I kept getting infections over and over again. I was killing the bad bacteria, but then there was no good bacteria left to protect my skin. This left me vulnerable to reinfection. I figured there must be a way to replenish the good bacteria on my skin. We have so many option for improving good bacteria in our gut. There are also options for our skin! Enter topical probiotics.

Thankfully, skin probiotics have entered the beauty scene recently, but at the time, it was quite difficult to find topical probiotics.
After searching high and low, I finally found LiviaOne’s USDA Organic Topical Probiotics. They’ve been my go to ever since.
This topical spray probiotic replenishes the good bacteria on your skin, protecting it from future infections.
I’ve been ordering this exact product ever since and I can’t remember the last time I had a MRSA infection! I hope these tips help you on your journey to healing and wish you the best in preventing MRSA in the future!
